Orion Point: A jewel in the making

Metlifecare’s newest village, Orion Point, heralds a new benchmark in retirement living – one that’s grounded in exceptional design, luxury and sophistication.

The masterwork of acclaimed architects Ignite, the village is nestled on the peninsula between Hobsonville and Scott Points, and boasts sweeping coastal views, high-end accommodation and on-site amenities rivalling any five-star hotel.

“Orion Point is unique for retirement village living – the luxury feel, the tranquil coastal location, the stunning views,” says Orion Point Village Manager Helena Pearson.

“There’s a lingering assumption that moving into a retirement village is akin to moving into an old people’s home, but this is as far as you can get from that. It will offer residents fabulous restaurant dining, cocktails on the rooftop terrace and state-of-the art amenities including a beautiful swimming pool.”

And, scheduled for completion early next year, two breathtaking penthouse apartments will take Metlifecare’s quest for premium retirement living to the next level.

Each penthouse suite delivers around 255 square metres of luxury with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a media room, bespoke kitchen with Miele appliances, large scullery, separate laundry, additional carparking and a grand lounge and dining area opening to a balcony and spectacular views. Add to that an abundance of storage, sumptuous interiors and a timeless timber and stone palette and these residences are in a league of their own.

Ignite Architect’s Mark Crean says the decision to include penthouse apartments at Orion Point was a response to the outstanding site.

“When Metlifecare purchased this piece of land they knew they had a unique property. It’s on the coastal edge, down a quiet end of its own peninsula with far reaching harbour views, and it enjoys all day sun. Add that together and it’s as good as it gets.”

He should know. As Ignite’s Director of Living Environments Sector Lead – Aged Care, Mark is at the forefront of contemporary retirement village design and planning in Aotearoa.

“It’s good to see our aged care providers wanting to provide this high level of offering. I’d live here!”

For those who are not in the market for a penthouse suite, Orion Point’s one, two and three bedroom apartments and villas offer upmarket contemporary living in a village that’s thoughtfully designed for the good life.

“Moving into Orion Point is more like moving into a country club or resort. Every apartment and villa has good sun, many have great views and once complete, the village amenities will include everything from a wellness centre, library and hair salon, through to a village green, a workshop and a craft room. You name it, it’s here!”

The main amenities block will become the heart of village life. “It’s a place full of vibrancy, activity and energy, where people can easily come together, so they don’t feel isolated or lonely.

And in another couple of years there will be a 46-bed care home too, ensuring this discerning yet fun-loving community of retirees have access to support they need, whatever stage of the journey they are at.”
